Summer Fun Under the Florida Sun!

The Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on most of our lives. Vacations have been forgone due to the fear and spread of the pandemic. However, it is so very necessary to begin to return to a sense of normalcy in our lives during these stressful times. Perhaps taking a trip overseas or even out of state is not an option at the moment, but try not to let that deter you and your family from taking some much needed time to relax this summer.

There are so many wonderful places to be discovered in our very own backyard! And the good news is that most of them are conducive to social distancing. Below is a list of some very cool and unique places to Florida that you and your family can visit to enjoy some R&R this summer!

1. The Florida Springs

I grew up in South Florida and had zero awareness of the amazing beauty that can be found just several hours north of me. Did you know there are 700 springs located in Florida alone?! Neither did I! Springs are very unique in that they maintain a temperature of 68-72 degrees year round, making summer time the best time to visit if you’re anything like this warm-blooded Floridian! 2. The Florida Caverns

Did you know Florida also has caverns? I had no idea either until just a few years ago! The caverns are a nice way to enjoy a reprieve from the hot Florida sun and see some natural beauty, such as stalactites and stalagmites. So, aside from taking a tour of the caverns, you can also enjoy a nice hike with the family either before or after your visit.

3. Falling Waters State Park

If you would like to enjoy some more of Florida’s unique, natural beauty, Falling Waters State Park is near the caverns. Again, I had no idea Florida had waterfalls! 4. St. Augustine

If you’re not much into the outdoors, then visiting St. Augustine – the oldest city in the U.S.! – may be the vacation for you and your family. There is quite a bit of sightseeing to do in St. Augustine, such as The St. Augustine Lighthouse, the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument , and the Fountain of Youth. The historical district city is very quaint with its old brick streets and many restaurants and shops.
