A few days ago we brought our (almost) 3 year old son, and 6 month old daughter to the zoo for the very first time. I think one of the things I was most looking forward to when having kids was getting to experience the world through their eyes. My husband and I have been to the zoo plenty of times throughout the years, but this was the first time with our children. There’s nothing like seeing your child’s face light up when they see a tiger come out from hiding, or witnessing pure joy as they point out the baby giraffes with their mamas. Your children help bring out the child in yourself, and it really makes you experience things in a whole new way. I highly recommend Zoo Miami for your next family adventure!
Zoo Miami is the largest zoo in Florida. With almost 750 acres of land, 4 miles of walkways, and over 3,000 animals— you’ll definitely see plenty! Being that we’re still in the middle of a pandemic, I felt this was a great place to social distance. We arrived at Zoo Miami around 11am and found that it wasn’t very crowded yet. Masks are no longer required, but reccommended.
Aside from the plethora of animals you’ll see, there are bike rentals, multiple animal feedings, special animal encounters, rides, presentations, playgrounds, and even splash pads for the kids to cool off! There’s also plenty to eat with a new cafe that just opened, as well as food and beverage carts that you’ll find around the zoo. So parents, make sure to cool yourselves off with an icy cold beer! You deserve a treat too!
We had such a fun filled family day at Zoo Miami, and we can’t wait to get back! We were able to see a lot, but there is definitely so much more for us to explore. Zoo Miami offers great membership packages for families of all sizes. Memberships will allow you 365 days of free admission from the day you sign up, discounts on food, merchandise, bike rentals, special events, and also discounted rates on tickets to select zoos and aquariums.
