Julie Galinanes If you’re anything like me, then you too have stepped out of a nail salon with a fresh pedicure, only to have a nail ruined by your own clumsiness. I’ve chipped my nails by simply getting into my car or by having a gift bag drop on my foot at the Dollar Tree. Sometimes my dog loves to greet me at the door when I come home and gets a little too excited and steps on my toes, argh! I’ve come to realize it takes special talent to ruin a pedicure in under 30 mins of getting one, haha! If you’re also like me, your time is pretty valuable. I mean, who has time to go back to the nail salon when you have at least another 5 things on your to-do list? Not I! One day while having a pity party over my nail polish being ruined just after a trip to the nail salon, on my mom’s big 80th birthday celebration nonetheless, I happened to see my kids’ sharpies and had my best idea ever. What if I use one of these to fill in the color? And, voila, just like that, I had fixed my toe nail! And I was able to attend my mom’s birthday party with a seemingly perfect pedicure 🙂 Thank you Sharpie nail hack!
How it works
First, choose the color that best matches your nail polish. You will never find an exact color, but I will be darned if in all the times I have done this, the color matches almost perfectly!
Second, very carefully touch up the chipped nail.
Third, touch up as needed!
It’s not perfect, but it sure saves $$ and time. The way I see it, unless someone has a major foot fetish, no one is going to be paying such close attention to your feet!
Other Sharpie Nail Hacks
It occurred to me while I was writing this article to see if anyone else has thought of this before. And, the answer is, yes. However, there’s not a whole lot of talk out there about this well kept secret. While doing my little research, I also found that not only can you use sharpies to fix your nails, but there’s such a thing as sharpie nail art…who knew?! Now THAT’S pretty darn cool!
