Spring/Summer Fashion 2021: Mommy and Me Edition

This is by far my favorite time of the year because winter (yes even Florida winter) is finally over and you feel like going out in the sunshine. Especially this year if you are like me, you must be tired of wearing loungewear and athletic clothes everyday. Don’t get me wrong, I literally LIVE in those clothes. They were one of BEST things to trend during the pandemic. Sure, COVID definitely helped this lifestyle but now as people are going out more and getting vaccinated, I feel it’s finally time to start getting into the fashion trends! So here’s the scoop on some of my favorite Spring/Summer 2021 fashion trends. I’ve had a great time trying these with my daughter, Serena 🙂
(I’ll admit this was such a fun mother and daughter activity to do!)

Trend 1: Bright colors with Florals or Cute Pattern Prints

I feel like this trend always tends to come around spring time. It’s fun, vibrant and feminine! Who doesn’t love some pretty colors and cute outfits to go with it? Both me and Serena followed this trend! I chose to wear a pink floral maxi dress and she wore a gorgeous butterfly romper. Serena’s romper was actually her Easter outfit and we paired it with some cute bunny ears! Both outfits we wore were cute and comfortable to handle the spring into summer months!

Trend 2: Mom Jeans (with matching Mommy and Me t-shirts!)

Yes, by now we’ve all heard that skinny jeans are out. Millennials are now being made fun of for wearing skinny jeans and a side part in their hair. I am and always will be a millennial. But I’m always up for a challenge! These days, I have been rocking a middle hair part, which I don’t mind. But mom jeans? I am a mom but never thought I was THAT kind of mom. But I gave it a shot.

Also if you want to have fun, definitely try a mommy and me matching t-shirt or outfit! We opted for these bright “Mama” and “Mama’s Mini” red t-shirts! It definitely was fun to be matchy with my baby. Though we could not successfully get our shirts to read for the pics, (the struggles of having a baby constantly on the move) we did the best we could!

I’m still personally not a fan of the mom jeans trend after trying it with an open mind. Although they are comfy, I did not find them very flattering. Serena however could easily pull it off and looked so cute! Let’s put it this way, trends don’t necessarily work for everyone! You have to have an open mind and experiment to find what works for YOU.

Trend 3: Cutout clothing

For this I opted for a cute cutout jumpsuit with slits just along the center for a little bit of a dramatic touch. I found it cute, comfortable and just a hint of sexy. I definitely approve of this trend! Serena is a little too young for this trend, maybe when she grows up a bit!

Trend 4: Accessories

Always a good idea to add a cute hat and shades to stay cool in the Florida heat. They go with everything!
