If you are not a Kitchen Angel (like me) or just too busy to be one, this Peach cobbler recipe is for you! Most of my mom friends love sweets but do not have much time to bake. Except for that one friend (you know who you are right? 🙂 )
April 13th is National Peach Cobbler Day declared by the George Peach Council. Because I never made or ate one, I thought why not to give it a try? (Hey don’t judge, I’m Hungarian so no need to know about cobblers…or?)
I was searching for a recipe and I found a bunch of them that were easy and quick. So I wasn’t sure how to chose. Then, I read about Dawn who is a minimalist and simple living mama like me, so I decided to give her recipe a try. Check out her page here
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar, divided
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup milk
- 4 cups fresh peach slices
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Ground cinnamon
Directions
Step 1 Melt butter in a 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
Step 2 Combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour batter over butter (do not stir).
Step 3 Bring remaining 1 cup sugar, peach slices, and lemon juice to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly; pour over batter (do not stir). Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired.
Step 4 Bake at 375° for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve cobbler warm or cool.(I prefer warm)
I like that Dawn cut down the sugar. Original recipe says 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup was perfectly enough sweet. I have to tell you friends, I am usually more of a chocolate dessert fan, but this cobbler is one of my new easy to make faves for the whole family. One thing I would add is vanilla ice cream! It just goes so well with this peach cobbler.
Enjoy and keep checking back for more delicious recipes and fun topics.
